The College Democrats of New York's Response to the Detainment of Brad Lander

NEW YORK, NY — Today, New Yorkers watched as masked men abducted a high-profile political candidate and public official in the name of "freedom."

Brad Lander, New York City Comptroller and Mayoral Candidate, was taken by ICE agents while escorting a migrant out of an immigration courthouse.

Due process is the pillar of a free society, and the attacks against our legal system will reverberate across the country for years to come.

The College Democrats of New York condemn this blatant abuse of power by ICE under the Trump Administration. The current use of federal immigration enforcement raises grave concerns about the erosion of civil liberties and due process.
